Julie Kopjoe has been appointed chief information officer by the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, effective July 25, 2016.
In her new role, Kopjoe will provide vision and leadership for developing, implementing, and managing information technology initiatives to improve quality and cost effectiveness across the College, including the Veterinary Medical Center and MSU Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health.
She will head the Keller Technology Center, which supports all technology in the College including infrastructure, clinical systems and educational technologies, and research.
Kopjoe comes to MSU from the University of Michigan Health Systems, where she was the senior business systems analyst for Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT). Her knowledge managing complex and evolving departments was developed in her roles at the University of Michigan, first as the IT planning manager for Mechanical Engineering and then as the senior business systems analyst for MCIT. Previously, Kopjoe served as an IT specialist (enterprise architecture) with the Department of Defense Command that focuses on soldier and ground systems through cutting-edge technology. She was also the senior technical lead with a private consulting compliance team.
"I am excited to join MSU and support the College of Veterinary Medicine as we navigate and plan the direction of our ever-evolving technology,” says Kopjoe. “I look forward to collaborating with the College community, as well as the IT team, to build on the team’s successes and drive forward our technology platform, which is a critical component of delivering an exceptional customer experience.”
This is a return to MSU for Kopjoe, who completed her bachelor’s degree from the university. She earned a master’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Boston University and brings with her more than 16 years of experience as an IT professional.
“We are excited about Julie’s arrival,” said College of Veterinary Medicine Dean John Baker. “She has extensive experience with regard to information technology policy, strategic planning, implementation, and data analysis that will significantly enhance the College. Her leadership is essential for the long-term success of the CVM.”
